In the first hour, Ruth Copland interviews Santa Cruz Film Festival Director Elizabeth Gummere about the upcoming festival, now in its 12th year. We talk about the festival's history, women in film, the submission process, how they strike a balance between different kinds of films and the events lined up for this year 7-10 November. In the second hour, Ruth Copland talks to local band Fall Forward and MC Hager calls in with This Day In History.
Fall Forward comprises the Ward brothers, Jay (17) and Carl (13). Scotts Valley natives, the brothers recently recorded their debut EP called Boxes and Strings with 6 songs written and co-produced by Jay. Having played music from a young age, the bios are going from strength to strength with Jay recently coming second (out of 100 songwriters) in the Santa Cruz Songwriters Showcase. Ruth talks to them about the inspiration behind their music and plays tracks from the the EP, as well as the boys playing live in the studio. Check out their music at www.fallforwardmusic.com

We talk about how they teach full force self-defence in an adrenalized state to empower and heal. Men and women work together to end violence against women, by helping women feel empowered in their body and become aware of how to deal with verbal, physical and sexual assault. www.impactbayarea.org
In the second hour, MC Hager checks in with This Day In History, and Ruth Copland interviews Chris Jones from San Francisco band Scary Little Friends. Chris talks about his new album From The Beginning, which he wrote and produced and then brought to life live with the band.
